Discover all most important must do appointments for this year’s Carnival in Venice!

The Venice Carnival 2015 has started yet again and this year, to my real delight, it is all going to be about Food and Wine, so much so that the official title is “The Most Delicious Festival in the world”.

When is Venice Carnival On?

From 31st January till 17th February 2015 it will be a frenzy of food and wine events, as well as swirling costumes and colourful masks. So, as I have been telling you since I have started talking about the Carnival on my blog, choose your costume, get your authentic Venetian mask and come to enjoy an array of smells, flavours, colours, sensations and sounds in the most beautiful city in the world.

As the Venice Carnival official website stated when presenting the Carnival: The theme of goodies will be developed throughout the Carnival not only in the scheduled festivals and performances but also in all the cultural institutions of the area and it will be carried out in the museums with an extraordinary offer and it is appropriate to say, for all tastes.

Check out all the calendar of events which will be on offer.

Daily parades

Every day a company of multilingual comedians will liven up the two morning and afternoon parades, where the best masked costumes will defy each other to win the traditional Best Masked Costume contest. Contestants will be selected by spectators who will then vote and may take their favourites to victory. Every day two winners will be selected to go straight to the Sunday finale.

During each parade companies will perform in street theatre shows, clowning, music and dancing. The shows will be selected according to their consistence with the theme and their purpose will be to liven up the square and involve the spectators.

This year children will be taken care of by the Biennale which will organise an array of dance performances, events, tours and activities in the central pavilion in the Biennale gardens.

You can rent a costume from various ateliers, like the famous Atelier Sautter, Atelier Marega, Atelier Nicolao and many more.

And here is what you can do if you want to go and show off your beautiful and stunning handmade costume! Take part in one of the many events organise by Venice Carnival in Costume.

From a cocktail and dance event to a chocolate and costume party! Take part in a Grand Ball or a Minuetto lesson: the range of events is amazing!

Or splash out in a beautiful Evening Costume Ball with Il Ballo Del Doge or one of the many organised by the top 4 and 5 star hotels, like at the Hotel Carlton, Luna Baglioni and more.

If you want to really immerse yourself in this year Carnival theme, go and sample the local goodies: just go for a Cake and Chocolate Tour or book a Cicchetti Tour.
